Founded by renowned Irish Makeup Artists Paula Callan and Derrick Carberry, Callanberry was established as a Makeup Academy, to teach a wide range of practical and specialised skills using the most up-to-date techniques.
But we are growing and we've been working hard for the past year, developing an essential brush collection. Our focus has always been on quality and durability. We wanted a brush collection we would be happy to have in our own kit. Indeed, we believe our Essential Brush Collection are brushes that we now couldn’t do without in our kits. Callanberry also offers a full Makeup service, including any special event you may have (weddings, debs or any time that you want to feel special) editorial & advertising shoots.
Paula Callan pursued her dream of a career in the cosmetics industry 1992, After started working as a makeup artist for an up and coming photographer she then spent 5 years working as a freelance makeup artist… Paula joined M.A.C in 1997 and was soon promoted to be their first Senior Artist for Ireland and UK…… her entrepreneurial attributes have led her to initiate the opening of two very successful hair and make up salons and also the creation of two popular cosmetic brands
Paula works with some of the most talented and inspirational people within fashion, TV and film such as the saturdays, girls aloud, amy huberman,Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, Joanna Lumley, Sophie Dahl, Cheryl cole, Sienna Miller , Elle McPherson , Jodie Kidd and Naomi Campbell ,Heidi Klum and Rachel Hunter to name but a few.
Paula is continuously sought after for both Irish and international work including the MTV music awards, childline and the meteor awards, and also International Fashion Shows including London, new york, milan and paris Fashion Weeks for designers, such as Alexandra McQueen, Juilen McDonald, Zambezi, Chloe, Stella mcCartney, roberto cavalli and Roland mouret. The Bafta awards and the Olympic games.
Paula make up work is very current and can be seen in many leading Irish magazines, image, Tatler and social and personal… She is also highly sought after in many International glossy publications, such as Elle, Marie Clare, Harpers & Queen, UK Vogue. Paula has always been interested in writing about all things cosmetic and has now added a new string to her bow becoming beauty editor for the irish publication JUNO magazine.
Born in Co. Kildare, Derrick Carberry is one of Ireland’s most sought-after Make-Up artists. Having started his career working as a lab technician for Intel Corporation, a chance encounter with a well known make-up artist, inspired Derrick to pursue another vocation, that of Make-Up. His innate talent for the job was understood once Derrick began assisting in fashion shows and magazine shoots and ultimately led to Derrick being introduced to the M.A.C. Cosmetics Dublin team where he worked out of their Brown Thomas store for 6 years.
Derrick works in synergy with his clients, subjects, photographic teams and television crews, always adding a very special and unique touch. His technical ability fused with his creative ideas ultimately produces the beautiful results seen in the numerous supports in which he works. Over his 11-year career Derrick has proven his versatility and creativity when working with a variety of clients from the worlds of television, film, magazines or for more intimate settings such as weddings.
Derrick’s extensive client list is a testimony to his work, which includes regular TV credits from; Ireland AM, Off The Rails, Xposé and Fashion TV UK. In addition to working for top Irish publications such as Image, Tatler, Prudence, VIP and RSVP, Derricks hands have also graced the faces of celebrities such as Elle MacPherson, Kevin Spacey, Anjelica Huston, Girls Aloud, Cecelia Ahern and Louise Redknapp, to name a few. As well as participating in multiple fashion weeks around the world, large Scale events include the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, the BAFTA’s and the MTV Music Awards. Derrick’s advertising campaigns include L’Oreal, Elisabeth Arden, Wella, Brown Thomas, Vaseline, Kellog’s and Toni & Guy.
